Coffee Subscription vs Buying As You Go: Which Is Right for You?
If you're weighing up a Moon Roast coffee subscription against simply ordering bags as you need them, the short answer is this: a subscription suits you if you already know which coffee you love and want it to turn up automatically at a lower price, while buying as you go suits you if you like to explore different origins or don't get through coffee at a predictable rate. Plenty of our customers end up doing a bit of both.
How a Moon Roast subscription works
Setting up a subscription on any of our coffees, whether that's a single origin like Ethiopia Beshasha or a blend like Candover, locks in a saving of around 10% against the one-off price on every delivery. On our Candover Blend, for example, a one-off 225g bag is £10.80, while the same bag on subscription works out at £9.72 each time.
You choose how often it arrives: once a week, every two or four weeks or every 2 months. Next decide how many deliveries you'd like to commit to, from a couple of bags right through to a rolling twelve-delivery plan. Deliveries over £30 are free either way, and because we roast to order, allow around four working days from charge to doorstep. After your first 3 months, you can change or cancel your subscription at any time through your account logins.
How buying as you go works
There's no setup and no commitment. You order whichever bag catches your eye, whether that's a returning favourite or one of our limited releases, such as the Colombia Peach Co-Ferment. You pay full price each time, but you decide exactly what you want and when, and you'll still get free delivery on any order over £30.
This is the better route if your coffee habits change from month to month, if you like to work your way through our single origins or if you're buying for an office or event where the quantity varies.

Which is right for you
- Choose a subscription if you've already found a coffee you love, want to save on every bag and would rather it just turn up than think about reordering.
- Choose buying as you go if you enjoy trying new origins, your coffee consumption varies or you're not ready to commit to one coffee yet.
Do bear in mind our ‘Core Subscription’ offers different blends and single origin coffees on rotation, so you can look forward to a different specialty coffee each delivery, without having to commit to one. Worthy considering?
- Do both if you want the best of each: subscribe to an everyday favourite for the saving and convenience and top up with single origins or limited editions as you go.
